The Wedding: my beauty game plan.

The Wedding: my beauty game plan.

Well this post is certainly a little different from anything else you’ve seen around these parts! If you haven’t already figured it out from the title, I am a soon to be bride! Which means two things:

Number one- Someone was crazy enough to agree to put up with me for the rest of forever

anndddd…

Number two- My beauty routine needs to be kicked up a few notches in the months leading up to the big day. Knowing how much I love beauty products, you’ll know that this was a “project” I didn’t try to fight or put off at all .(Trying new masks and skincare gadgets  > clubbing and partying).

Soooo, I’ve put together a very curated selection of products that have made the biggest difference in the overall look of my skin and hair for any brides to be, or for if you’re just looking to take extra good care of yourself.

  1. Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush –  I’ve been eyeing up a few of these “electric face brushes” for a while now. My obsession began with the Clarisonics , I stalked those bad boys on Sephora for ages, before deciding that it wasn’t really a necessity. But, with a wedding and honeymoon coming up I decided that it was time to pull out the big guns to achieve that bridal glow. I found it to be a little too harsh to use morning and night , so I only pull this out in the evening to make sure I’m getting all of the makeup and dirt (ew) from the day off my face and out of my pores, and I’ve gotta say its been doing a damn good job.
  2.  Pumpkin Enzyme Mask –  Peter Thomas Roth masks are my absolute favourite, for a few reasons, but the most important one being, that they just work, really really well.  This one has been on my radar since Anna from theannaedit.com mentioned it (she never seems to lead me astray) and it is magical.  I usually slather this on during my Sunday night pamper sesh , to sort of reset my skin for the new week and on Monday morning I wake up with really fresh glowy looking skin. I don’t give many products this label but it really is one of those miracle products.
  3. Agave Lip Mask – I really haven’t delved into the world of Bite Beauty, only because, if I add one more lipstick to my “need to try” basket in my bathroom, I might scream. But I’d been hearing good things about this product for a while and managed to convince myself that it was reeeaallyyy “just another lip product” this one was different. I’ve had lip balms, and creams and those jelly lip mask thingys that promise you baby soft lips after one use but they all seemed to do the same thing, moisturise for about 30 minutes or until I ate or drank something and my lips were back to their original state or sometimes even worse than they were before! But, I’ve been using this lip mask (its more like a really thick balm) every night religiously for about six weeks now and my lips are much softer and even appear more plump? , could be a result of the added moisture or could be an allergic reaction, either way, I’m here for it.
  4. Under Eye Lifting Cream – The only bags I wanna have to worry about on my wedding day are the ones I have packed for my honeymoon. I’ve played around with a few different eye creams but never really noticed any real change in appearance to my under eye area. I mean they were just okay. But this one from Bella Aura skin care has really gotten rid of any sort of darkness and puffiness around my eyes and has made a huge difference!
  5. OUAI Treatment Masque – I don’t really have much to say about this one, it’s just a solid ,go-to product. I like to apply this to my hair after shampooing and leaving it on overnight. It leaves my hair super soft and smelling amazing.
  6. Sleeping Mask Pearl – this one is more of a now and then product. Its pretty simple, if I feel like my skin is looking dull and just sort of crap (lets be honest), I put this on just before going to bed, once all of my other products have had a chance to sink in ,  leave it on overnight, and rinse it off in the morning. This isn’t a huge stand out product for me but I do notice that my skin is a bit more healthy looking after using it so I think it deserves a spot on the list.

So thats it , if your’e still reading and have made it to the end, well done, I know it was a bit of a lengthy one! Let me know in the comments below if you’ve tried any of these products or if you have any other suggestions , Id love to hear them!

F E B R U A R Y | my thoughts.

F E B R U A R Y | my thoughts.

January has always been a bit of a weird one for me, I start out really pumped for the new year and everything that I want to achieve and end up getting a bit overwhelmed. I don’t know where to start, what steps to take and end up doing nothing to be honest.

I think theres a lot of pressure to being super productive and positive at the start of the year , but, sometimes thats just not realistic.

I one hundred percent  think that its important to have goals and I love a good resolution but, its just as important to remember that if you slip up and eat that cupcake that probably isn’t in your healthy meal plan , or you don’t gain a thousand Instagram followers in a week like you wanted to , its going to be okay!

So, instead of beating yourself up over your January blues, use the start of February as your fresh start. Every month, or week, or day even, is a chance to start fresh and set some goals!

So lets drop the “new year, new me” that has unfortunately become a thing *insert eye roll here* and crush our goals every day , all year. Heres to hitting the refresh button this February!

It may come as a surprise to any of you who aren’t Bermuda based, but it gets freaking cold here. I know, I know, its nowhere near as cold as other places but when you’re used to throwing on a bikini and laying on our pink sand beaches all day, anything below 20 degrees is freezing.

These photos were taken on a Sunday afternoon, and what has probably been the coldest day of the year so far. So, in true Sunday fashion , I threw on a comfy outfit, minimal makeup and headed out with Coye.

We ended up at Sea glass beach (one of my favourite spots on the island) and although it wasn’t as perfect for photos as it is during the summer it was still just as beautiful.

Fall is finally starting to make an appearance in Bermuda, and I’m definitely not complaining. I mean, I can appreciate the Summer heat but theres nothing quite like feeling that fresh, crisp Fall air in the morning.

This is literally my dream dress, its flowy ,”twirly”  and floral while still being completely seasonally appropriate. And I mean look at those colours.

Not gonna lie to you, these photos were not taken yesterday, they’re from one maybe two weeks ago, I’m losing track. Whenever it was, Coye and I had the absolute best day.unnamed-2

We started with a couples massage at Newstead which can I just say was to die for, if you haven’t already been I would definitely recommend giving it a go.

We’ve found a new ‘Sunday lunch spot’ at the Southampton Princess, we’ve found ourselves at Wickets a few more times than we’d probably care to admit. Its perfect for taking advantage of the last few weeks of Summer, sitting by the pool, eating yummy food and perhaps a cheeky cocktail.

*side note, their onion rings are the best things I’ve ever tasted.

Looking at these photos make me realize that our day literally consisted of eating, drinking and not much else. But, I mean, thats what Sundays are for right? Right.

We spent the evening watching the sunset, drinking sangria and munching on homemade snickers bars, which if you know me, you’ll know is my ideal situation.

So we actually had a pretty full Sunday last week or whenever it was that these photos were taken. There aren’t any photos from this Sunday because we stayed at home and slept for most of the day, its all about balance right?!

Sundays have always been my absolute favorite day of the week. I try my best not to make any concrete plans, so that we can just see where the day takes us.

This week I threw on this jumpsuit from The JetSet Diaries , grabbed Jecoye and my camera and headed out.

I think its so easy to become desensitized to Bermuda’s beauty, taking  a minute to look around, take it all in and remind ourselves how lucky we are to wake up in paradise every day.

The new base that you absolutely need.

The new base that you absolutely need.

Now, I’ll be honest with you, I was sure I wasn’t going to like this product. I like my foundations to be pretty full coverage, not cakey but I like the airbrushed look, so when I saw that this was marketed as the “no makeup look” I thought, uhh I think I’ll pass.

But, oh my goodness! I actually love it. It gives a lot more coverage than I expected and the finish is dreamy.

On good skin days, I slap a bit of this on, blend it out with my fingers, dust on a bit of powder, and I’m good to go. But on those not so good skin days, I add a bit of concealer on any problem areas for a bit of extra coverage. And if your skin is in need of some serious coverage this works really well as a sort of primer as well, I wouldn’t recommend using this as well as foundation for everyday, but if you want you’re skin to look flawless for photos or a special event this works really well to give you that extra coverage without looking like you’ve layered on loads of makeup.

This bottle of effortless satin-y goodness goes for $44 and in my opinion is worth every single penny.
